Cream announces its first Cream Live event in Malta. The event will feature none other than Moby - Live in Concert. The American star will be accompanied by his Band and shall perform in Malta on the 28th June 2009 (eve of a public holiday) at Gianpula Fields, possibly Malta’s largest open air concert venue.
Moby has been making music since he was 9 years old. He started out playing classical guitar and then went on to play with seminal Connecticut hardcore punk group `The Vatican Commandoes` when he was still 13. He started DJing after leaving college and was a fixture in the late 80`s New York house and hip-hop Scenes.
He released his first single, `Go` in 1991 (listed as one of Rolling Stone`s best records of all time), and has been making albums ever since. His own records have sold over 20,000,000 copies worldwide, and he has also produced and remixed scores of other artists, including David Bowie, Metallica, the Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, among others.
He has toured tirelessly, playing well over 3,000 concerts in his career, and has also had his music used in hundreds of different films, including `Heat`, `Any Given Sunday`, `James Bond - Tomorrow Never Dies`, and `The Beach`, among others.
He is currently working in his New York studio on his next record, as well as working closely with a variety of different charities, including “The Humane Society” and “The Institute for Music and Neurologic Function”.
Moby also set up www.mobygratis.com in 2004, which gives free music to independent film makers.
Moby after-party
Canadian grown talent Deadmau5 will be taking to the stage shortly after Moby’s much anticipated performance, to headline the Concert’s official after-party.
The Deadmau5 Live show, which operates off ‘Ableton’, a ‘Lemur’ controller, ‘Anomaly’ and visual effects is changing the face of live performances as we know them. To top it all up, his tailor-made giant Mau5ehead, complete with powerful strobe lit eyes, has his fans in a frenzy during his spellbinding sets.
His sound transcends various genres of music, flirting with techno and minimal whilst hinting at tech house, trance and electro. A glance at the names supporting his unique sound proves testament to this fact. Sasha, John Digweed, Tiesto, Carl Cox, Dubfire, Eric Prydz, David Guetta, Sander Kleinenberg, Erick Morillo, Laurent Garnier – the list goes on and on.
